Chinmaya Mission - Jacksonville
Chinmaya Mission has made its mission to bring Hindu traditions and Vedanta teachings to families of the Indian diaspora. All ages, from children to senior citizens, can find ways to strengthen their understanding of and faith in the deep Vedic knowledge. On Sundays we meet for Satsang, worship, and study of the main practices and teachings of Hinduism.
From September 2023, Chinmaya Mission Jacksonville holds gatherings most Sundays (following the Duval County school calendar) from 10:25-12:00 noon. In the family assembly we learn shlokas and bhajans, family meditation, the meaning of Hindu holy days, and uplifting messages for the week. Then we break into smaller classes by age group, and study the inner significance and practices taught in the Ramayana, Bhagavatam, Bhagavad Gita, and for the adults, the Upanisads as well. Our trained Bala Vihar teachers use teaching materials meticulously prepared and taught for decades in fifty Chinmaya Centers in the US, and 300 Centers around the world.
We are expanding our offerings post Covid. Please contact our team of Sevaks/Sevikas for more information, at balavihar.cmjax@gmail.com. To register for the weekly satsangs, please click on (Registration link). There is a requested donation per family, though no one is turned away for lack of funds.
