Chinmaya Mission Sacramento
Sacramento Bala Vihar® was founded in the summer of 1992 with a starting class size of 4 students by Nalini Prasad. With dedicated support from additional visionary parents of the Greater Sacramento area including Vanaja Tivakaran, Nalini Mehtani, Haripriya Raghavan, and Gautam Gandhi, the organization had grown to ~100 students by 2008-09, when the Sacramento Bala Vihar was formally affiliated to Chinmaya Mission West, and as a registered satellite center of Chinmaya Mission San Jose.
The Bala Vihar and Yuva Kendra programs are structured according to the students’ grades in the general public school system from Kindergarten through High School (K-12). We have combined some grades, either for lack of teaching volunteers or lack of sufficient students to warrant a class. A few Indian vernacular languages classes are also offered.
