The Well Baby Clinic which runs every Saturday the Immunisation Programme for children has been well received. Camps for Cancer Detection, Diabetes, Bone Densitometry, Women’s Health, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology and liver diseases amongst others have been organised. Blood Donation Camps are conducted regularly. In collaboration with Maya Foundation, an NGO, corrective surgeries are also conducted on children.
“Chinmaya Mission Hospital is a good hospital if you are looking for qualified doctors. Most of the doctors are consultants in other diagnostic clinics also. The same people who feel uncomfortable consulting with them in CMH are comfortable to meet them at other diagnostic centres as the rush is less there. As it is a charity hospital, consultation and other lab charges are less compared to other hospitals. Only discomfort is you need to be in a long queue.”

In 1960, a small but an ardent group of Mission devotees hired a room in a slum area in Murphy Town, Bengaluru. They started conducting a biweekly medical clinic for the poor and needy. When Swami Chinmayananda heard about the Murphy Town project and its volunteers, he decided to start a hospital, and the seed of Chinmaya Mission Hospital was sown. Funds were collected, land purchased, construction planned and executed, and in 1970, Swami Chinmayananda officially inaugurated Chinmaya Mission Hospital. On November 6, 1999, Chinmaya Mission Hospital extended its ceilings, floors, walls and staff. From its humble beginnings in 1970, it is now a 200-bed hospital with the most modern equipment and facilities.
The aim of Chinmaya Mission Hospital is to run a multi-specialty Hospital with high specialty facilities provided by competent institutions/professionals. The Hospital offers practically all Specialities and Hi-Tech diagnostic services under one roof. The goal of the hospital is to provide quality care at a reasonable cost and to also provide relatively low cost hospital care to the under-privileged for whom over 40% beds are dedicated as concessionals. 70 to 100 patients are seen every day in the Casualty department. OPD patients number more than 600 per day. 200 beds are available, with the average occupancy being 70%; ICU occupancy is over 80%. Every year, around 5,000 operations are performed and over 500,000 laboratory investigations are done.
